Quick determination of moisture content by the calcium carbide method.
The Rapid Moisture Meter works on the principle of the calcium carbide method for determining the moisture content of soils and other materials.
A measured quantity of the sample is placed in the sealed pressure vessel along with calcium carbide reagent. The calcium carbide reacts with the moisture in the sample and releases acetylene gas.
The pressure developed by the gas is indicated on the pressure gauge, which is directly calibrated to give the moisture content of the sample. The complete test can be performed in just a few minutes.
