The Aggregate Crushing Value Apparatus works on the principle of subjecting a prepared aggregate sample to a gradually applied compressive load and measuring the resistance offered by the aggregate to crushing.
A standard quantity of aggregate is placed in a cylindrical measure and subjected to a compressive load using a compression testing machine at a uniform rate of loading.
The crushed aggregate is sieved and the percentage passing the specified sieve is calculated as the aggregate crushing value, which indicates the resistance of the aggregate to crushing under gradually applied compressive load.
